Please note: Hearts at Home is a specialized veterinary service providing scheduled in-home end-of-life care and is not available for urgent or emergency care. If your pet is in severe condition or requires immediate or next-day attention, please contact your regular veterinarian or seek emergency services such as Coastal Care Veterinary Emergency & Referral Hospital or Maritime Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Centre.
Our Process & Care
Compassionate Consultation
We begin with a conversation to understand your pet's needs and your family's wishes. Together, we will create a plan that minimizes stress and anxiety for all as well as prioritizing peace, comfort, and dignity.
Gentle Assessment and Discussion
We will gently assess your pet’s condition and discuss the procedure with you, ensuring that you understand each step. You are encouraged to ask any questions you may have.
A Peaceful Farewell
We will administer a sedative to help your pet relax and feel comfortable. Once the sedation has taken effect and you are ready, we will begin the final step: euthanasia for a peaceful and dignified transition.
Aftercare & Memorialization
Following the procedure, we can help coordinate and prepare for aftercare according to your wishes. Whether you choose cremation or a special memorial service at home, your companion is treated with honour and care every step of the way.
